About David-Jack Fletcher


David-Jack Fletcher is a gay Australian horror author and editor, specialising in work that emphasises the everydayness of LGBTQI+ individuals.


His debut horror-comedy released early 2022 titled The Haunting of Harry Peck, and was an international Amazon #1 bestseller in several categories. It has recently been sold for a second edition with a US publisher.


In June 2023, his debut novel, Raven’s Creek was released to become a #1 bestseller in several international Amazon categories, and subsequently won the 2023 Bookstagram Award for LGBTQ+ Novel of the Year. He has also appeared in several anthologies across the US, the UK, and Canada, with a short story featuring in the highly anticipated anthology The Earth Bleeds at Night, featuring acclaimed international indie authors Caitlin Marceau and Hailey Piper.


He has just released The Count, with upcoming titles including, Hell is other People (November 2024), Wires in the Gut (2025), and Indentured (2025).


As a qualified editor, he operates a small online business, Chainsaw Editing, where he specialises in line, copy, and developmental editing for horror/thriller, dark fiction, mystery/suspense, fantasy, and the occasional historical romance. He has recently edited anthologies for Canadian press Eerie River, including two recent releases for Australian horror author, Mark Towse.


He gained his qualification through the University of Southern Queensland, and has worked with MDPI, as well as a few other private academic organisations.

David-Jack is also the co-founder of Slashic Horror Press, an emerging queer indie press focused on promoting under-represented voices—and stories—in horror and dark fiction.


Since beginning in June 2023, Slashic Horror Press has released one title a month, with a total of 12 titles being released in 2024. As of February 2024, Slashic has also received inquiries for both audio and film rights.
