Spiritbox release jaw-dropping new single SOFT SPINE:
Spiritbox, the GRAMMY-nominated titans of progressive heavy metal, have dropped a jaw-dropping music video for their latest single "Soft Spine," following its highly anticipated release earlier this month. The band, currently smashing their way through North America with Korn, amps up the brutality with a visual treat that punches just as hard as the track itself.
Directed by Orie Mcginness, the video cranks Spiritbox’s signature aggression to the next level, throwing goddess-like frontwoman Courtney LaPlante into a visceral, otherworldly arena. LaPlante watches over a vicious, slow-motion brawl between shadowy warriors, all wrapped in ethereal landscapes that look straight out of a dystopian fantasy. The band performs through it all, creating a symphony of chaos, violence, and cinematic splendor.
But it’s LaPlante who dominates, not just with her mind-blowing vocals, but with a series of fierce, fashion-forward looks that add an extra layer of elegance to the visual carnage.
"Soft Spine" isn’t just a song, it’s a statement. Spiritbox proves yet again that they’re unstoppable, setting a new standard for heavy music visuals with this beautifully brutal masterpiece.
About Spiritbox
For most bands, a meteoric rise often means hitting a ceiling. But for Spiritbox, the GRAMMY-nominated force of progressive heavy metal, their ascent shows no signs of slowing down. Formed in 2017 in the scenic yet isolated Victoria, British Columbia, by vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer, Spiritbox went from underground darlings to metal mainstays when their crushing single "Holy Roller" dropped in 2020, kicking off a media frenzy that saw them dominate headlines.
With the world watching, Spiritbox shattered all expectations in 2021 with *Eternal Blue*, their genre-defying debut album via Pale Chord/Rise Records. A powerful blend of djent, post-metal, and synth-laced hooks, *Eternal Blue* hit #13 on the Billboard 200 and rewrote the rules of what heavy music could be. LaPlante’s ethereal-yet-ferocious vocals tied the whole thing together, making the album a landmark moment in metal.
Following the release, the band graced the covers of *Revolver*, *Alternative Press*, *Rock Sound*, and *Kerrang!* while embarking on a completely sold-out headlining tour, playing to over 40,000 fans. Sharing stages with metal icons like Limp Bizkit and Ghost, they also took home Best International Breakthrough Band at the 2021 Heavy Music Awards.
In 2022, they landed prime spots at major US festivals, dropped their experimental *Rotoscope* EP, and collaborated with dubstep powerhouse Illenium on the track "Shivering." All while rounding out their lineup with drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert.
Fast-forward to 2023, and Spiritbox shows no signs of slowing down. They released the critically acclaimed EP *The Fear of Fear*—featuring the Grammy-nominated single "Jaded"—and caused another genre-bending stir with a remix of Megan Thee Stallion’s track "Cobra."
Spiritbox is here to shake things up. Whatever comes next, you can bet on unpredictability, passion, and a relentless drive to push boundaries.
