'Daredevil' Single from Sails Of Serenity and Subvoid
Last week, independent rock/metal label Famined Records introduced me to 'Daredevil', the single which teams up Turkey based modern metal outfit, Sails Of Serenity, with fellow Turkish act, Subvoid.
Formed in Istanbul, Turkey; 5-piece multi-national metal act Sails Of Serenity is an uncoventional metal act which plays around with different soundscapes taken from a variety of metal genres. In 2016, they released their first EP "Gold to Rust." A record based on the personal inner struggles of the band's former vocalist. This release acquainted first-time listeners with their progressive and audibly captivating music style.
This was followed up a couple years later with their concept album, "The Crossing," in 2018. An immersive album which takes the listeners on a nautical journey, and caught the attention of a wider audience, leading to the band touring internationally.
For fans of Northlane, ERRA and Veil of Maya: 'Daredevil' is a song about getting stuck in a pattern of making the same mistakes over and over again. The lyrics are narrated from the perspective of a protagonist who keeps taking the same risks even if it ultimately brings them failure. The lyrics are reminiscent of Einstein's definition of insanity: "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
'Daredevil' can be streamed now on Spotify and Apple Music via Famined Records.
